The Association started its main activities in March 2010 when it organized Student Olympiad “World Economy and International Economic Rlations”. 56 students from 17 regions of Ukraine were the participants. Their works were devoted to such topical issues as “Global Economic Crisis”, “Economic Convergence between Ukraine and the EU”, “Labor Migration in the CIS Countries”, “Investment Policy of Ukraine”, “Technological Modernization and Raising Competitiveness of Ukraine”, “Development of Tourism in Ukraine”, etc. Works written in English were specially noted. This evidences that our young researchers widely use publications by foreign researchers and reports of the leading international organizations and are able to use information in foreign languages.
The next research event organized by the Association was the International Conference “The World Financial Crisis: Lessons for Ukraine”. The Conference was held on May 27-28, 2010 in Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The working language was English. Conference Proceedings have been published in the publication of the Institute “Modern Problems of International Relations”. More than 100 participants form various regions of Ukraine and other countries took part in the event.
On July 17-22, 2010 the Association held the Summer School “Eurointegration”. The lecturers included representatives of the Embassies of several European countries, leading Ukrainian researchers in economics, representatives of the government bodies, including the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Some lectures took place in the Research Institute of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. Students attended the lecture of the Director of the Institute devoted to the economic policy of the government. After attending the lectures students received the Summer School sertificates and invitation to participate in the 2nd summer School, which is to include a trip to Brussels for attending the EU governing institutions.
On October 21, 2010 a Round Table was held in Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. During it the Association members, lecturers and young researchers were able to make reports and discuss the issue “The Means of Reaching Europeans Economic and Social Standards by Ukraine”.
The Association and the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine plan to publish joint journal “World Economy and International Economic Relations”.
The Association jointly with Kyiv Scientific Club “Synergia” and the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine organized scientific seminars, were leading researchers deliver speeches. During these events global economic, social and research trends are discussed. In particular, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Y.Pakhomov presented a speech on “Global and Country Risks: Ukraine and the World”; Professor of Lomonosov Moscow State University Y.Osipov made a report on “Metaphysics of Economic Development”. Such scientific seminars provide opportunity to listen to the leading scientists and participate in discussion with them.
